This book is a must if you are even remotely interested in showing. I wish I had this book five years ago because then I wouldn't have listened to the nonsense of certain breeders and show people. There are certain people out there that are happy to help you and guide you along the right path and then there are others that are threatened by you and tell you lies to make you look like a fool. Been there, done that. I learned everything I know the hard way.This book alone will answer all of your questions that you may have in regards to picking, showing and/or training a dog. I plan on taking this book with me to every show I go to. If I ever overhear someone talking at a show again about how they don't understand this or that, I will definetly recommend this book!

For the past i dunno how long, i have been reading tons and tons of books on how to show your dog, "Properly" to get AKC points, but none of them worked. So, I bought this book hoping to actually learn something, and i did. Because of all the hints and secrets in this book, one of my golden retrievers has 13 points and the other 14 points, so thank you, Ms. Coile, your book has done more than help us!!!

I just had to tell you I agree with the other reviewers. This book is a must if you plan to show dogs.

If you are thinking about showing your dog, and want to know the ins and outs that has a no nonsense approach, this is the book for you! There are helpful hints and approaches that a person just beginning would have to learn the hard way. Ms. Coile wrote this book as if she were telling secrets and giving advise to a trusted friend. She emphasizes above all to be a good sport, a gracious winner and loser...and of utmost importance-to remember this is your beloved animal and pet first that you will be showing. The book uses humor, is consise to the point. Take it from someone who has read many dog books, this is one of the best!!!!!

As a beginner, if I had to buy only one book, THIS IS THE BOOK I WOULD BUY! The title of the book tends to lead one to believe that it is ONLY for owners who intend to show thier dog; however, the book gives very concise and valuable information for all dog owners, pet and show dpg alike!!I believe that breeders should look at this book with an eye towards recommending it to their new puppy parents. There is SO MUCH information about how to pick a dog and training, etc that I can't say enough good about it! R. Regnier
