If you have a dog, sooner or later, this will be theraputic April 26, 2008 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Not only is this author the best talk radio host in the world, but he writes very well. You feel like you are walking along with him as he experiences the events leading up to this painful decision of putting his beloved dog down. Let's face it, most of us at some time in our life will have to go through this, and its very difficult. I am also touched by the small details he adds about his family and friends. He is a family man who loves and cherishes them. We should all be so lucky to have someone like that in our lives. The book is wonderful, and so is the author. I just noticed i could have gotten it in the large print version. (damn)

Kind of a boring book. Too much about the man instead of the dog.
Great reading, enjoyable from start to finish. April 19, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I loved this book. I received it for my birthday (last year I got Marley & Me), and wondered if it'd be as enjoyable as Marley & Me. Well it was, and I'm glad to say they are both on my 'fave' list.
This book is a touching view on living with a dog that's not going to be around for too much longer, and I know in a few years I fact that situation with one of my dogs.
Just a lovely, lovely book.
Quick Break From Stress April 11, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I liked Rescuing Sprite. It is a quick reading book and one to read in between other heavier subject matter (like histories). I like narratives that remain simple, yet get the details of the scene and the feeling of the moment in. This was one of those. It was not depressing at all to me. Mark Levin handles the life and death aspects of pet companionship in a way that will not weigh too heavily on the heart when one reads the entire book. I suggest pet owners read this book.
Great book April 8, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a great book, one for anyone who's ever loved an animal. There's a message of hope and love - and eventually sadness, but well worth it. I've rescued two cats in the last year and I often have the same thoughts that Levin had about Sprite. What was their life before, what harshness did they see, and are they happy to be here.
I requested the book through the library loan system, and they decided to buy the book instead. Since a portion of the book's proceeds go to various animal charities, I'm glad they did.
