A wonderful cookbook! August 28, 2002 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I live in Kansas City and frequent Three Dog Bakery with my dog Cooper. Recently, I purchased this book and could not be happier. The recipes contained within are wonderful. I find it improbable that the previous reviewer had his/her baking rejected by an entire dog show. Such a review is highly dubious. (Perhaps it says more about the reviewers cooking skill...) My advice? Look at the rest of the reviews. Then buy the book.
All the good recipes are on the internet July 21, 2002 13 out of 24 found this review helpful
After looking for recipes on the internet and finding quite a few good ones that were from Three Dog Bakery, I decided to purchase the book. It was a mistake. The recipes are not practical. Most (98%) are not intended for treats, and 1/2 of them I know my dogs wouldn't eat. I tried a few like Banana Mutt Cookies, Lazy Bones Carob Balls, pizza and took them to a dog show and NONE of the dogs would eat them. The useful Three Dog Bakery recipes are on the net.
happy dogs December 3, 2001 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Although i have yet to try all of the recipes in this book, the ones that i have tried have more than gone over well. at times, while cooking, i had to stop and remind myself that i was not cooking a dinner for myself, but for my dogs. (the recipes are that good) Although a little bland for human consumption, a definite hit amongst canine companions. These are safe, healthy alternatives to the same old dry dog food every night. A must for dog lovers.
delicious, easy-to-make doggy treats May 2, 2000 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
I bought this book for my elkhound. She's thrilled with the recipes. All paws up review. My only problem with the book is the amount of cheese found in recipes. Many of the recipes even call for lowfat cream cheese. I don't know about where all the other readers live, but here in MA cream cheese labels read like a chemistry experiment. I'll be substituting homemade yogurt cheese (yogurt strained through cheesecloth 6-8 hours) in those "cheesy" recipes I do make.
Vet Techs go Wild !!!!!!! July 25, 1999 37 out of 38 found this review helpful
As a professional registered veterinary technician, I can honestly say that Three Dog Bakery's cook book contains, practical, healthy and yummy treats for any friend. For those concerned with the onion and other potentially harmful ingredients, those studies have only recently been confirmed by top-notch veterinary laboratories. Recipies are easy enough to change, and with a little imagination you and your pet can get off to a wonderful start in canine cullinary school!
