great guide -- i have worked with shelter dogs and the peoplewho love them, at bide-a-wee, a non profit shelter in ny -- -- and iwould recommend this book to people adopting dogs cats puppies and kittens

A must for anyone considering adding a dog to the family and, especially a shelter dog. These "rejects" of society often make the best companions. I have thousands of dollars of purebred dogs and love them, but the $50 I spent on adopting Eddie was the best money ever spent. This book will help you have the same experience.
