Best Books come from Margaret Bonham ! September 7, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I read this book and The Complete Idiots Guide to Designer Dogs and found both to be interesting and well written. I can say for sure ,no one is an idiot that orders books from this Author . Books inform as well as giving insight to some of the most popular pets in the USA ..the Crossbreeds !
Comprehensive information July 30, 2004 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Above and beyond the adorable subjects, there is a lot of good, comprehensive A to Z information in here that is basic to all dogs. Bonham has a great section on mutt health, a good one on nutrition for "The Most Popular Dog in America," and a good one on how to select either a puppy or adult rescue. She covers what you might be able to reasonably expect physically in what type of mix, what group activities are available to them, what to look for in a good trainer and what training equipment you should expect go get, road trips, how to choose a vet, introducing them to the cat, and Bonham offers terrific advice on how to select a dog that's right for you.
Best book on mutts -- great for any kind of mixed breed June 29, 2004 This author gave the best information I have ever found for learning about mutts. I liked learning why mutts grow the way they do. Her chapter on determining what's in your mutt was fantastic. Obviously the author knows a lot about training because all her advice has really worked for me. Highly recommended for anybody who likes mixed breeds, like me.
Little Information About Mutts June 28, 2004 5 out of 11 found this review helpful
I was looking for a book that would give detailed information about judging a mutt's pet potential. Only 31 pages in the book discuss how to judge what personality traits the dog may have based on it's appearance. I also wanted information on how to judge how big that puppy will get and this book didn't cover that. Probably because that's a tough job, which is why I was looking for help. This book provided little useful information on choosing your mutt. It left me thinking that maybe we'll have to go with a purebreed after all. On a positive note, if you don't know how to take care of a dog, this book is full of information on basic dog care.
A Gem March 20, 2004 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
What a gem is Margaret Bonham's The Complete Guide to Mutts. Not only does she cover types of mutts, training, food, health and everything else a prospective dog owner needs to know, but I love that she emphasizes throughout the book that adopting a dog is a serious long-term commitment. I even bought a copy for the shelter I volunteer for as a resource guide in helping dogs and their new families live happily every after.
