informative and well-written July 21, 1999 25 out of 25 found this review helpful
I've read dozens of books written about dogs in the past few months and this is one of the best. Not only is it well-written, but the information is all pertinent to this breed. Many books feature a few chapters on the breed and the rest is just basic info on crate training, puppy behavior, etc. But Ms.Coile relates all these aspects to the particular needs of Cavs. Very helpful!
This is a great book for new owners! May 27, 1999 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
I just got this book today and it is really great! It has everything I would ever need to know about caring for my new puppy that I will be getting in august. I decided to find a good book to study up on so that when the puppy comes I will be prepared to be the best companion I can possibly be. This book will help a lot. Plus, it has tons of beautiful color pictures! I reccommend it to anyone considering a Cavalier as a pet. It is one in a million!
Great history, pictures, health concerns of Cavs. January 6, 1999 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
The history of Cavaliers includes how it differs from the English Toy (King Charles, no Cavalier). Chapters are included on feeding, grooming, first aid, and training. AKC standars and the coloration possible through breeding are covered. The pictures inspire instant ownership.
Excellent up to date intro for prospective puppy buyers. September 19, 1998 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
This little book takes you from their Royal Heritage in Great Britain, to the current health concerns of today. Explains in great detail for the prospective buyer issues regarding health, clubs and registrations, training, nutrition and more. Plus the pictures are to die for! I recommend it to everyone who inquires about puppies.
A Good starting place April 8, 1998 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
I got this book when my Cavalier puppy first came home. I needed a good book on basics - nothing too complex and nothing designed specifically for breeders or showing. I only wanted bird's eye views of history and genetics, etc. and this was perfect. Once I get over puppyhood and can get more involved with the breed, I will need something more involved than this, but this is an excellent place to start.
