just to add, I loved this book. I loved the characters which were well developed and I loved the setting " Maine " , my favorite vacation state in this country , so, I could picture all the places mentioned .
It's a wonderful book and you won't be sorry you bought it .

Even the dog has a point of view May 7, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Lost and Found hits a bittersweet note with every human heart. When her caring husband dies suddenly from a massive heart attack, Rocky, a psychologist in her late 30's is stricken with grief. To gain a sense of anonymity, she moves to an island off the coast of Maine. Determined to leave her past and her pain, she takes on a new job and encounters a host of islanders. Yes, Rocky has a rebellious, blunt and brash side. Yes, she pulls some incredible stunts, but she is a young woman full of the bile of grief. Some of the secondary characters, like the old woman with synthesia and the track running teenager with anoxeria, are intriguing. Then there is the dog, who becomes the focal point of the story. This dog's personality and soul are conveyed so beautifully and warmly that it is delightful and rewarding to read a portion of the story from his perspective. Looking for a heartful story? Love human stories intertwined with dogs and a bit of odd adventure? Grab a copy and a cup of tea. ENJOY!
A poignant trip down memory lane.... March 30, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I recently completed reading Lost and Found just a few days ago. And still the haunting images the story line created in my mind and heart are still very much to the front of my thoughts.
I grew up in rural New Hampshire, and for a brief time I lived in Portland, Maine, near where this story occurs.
I now live in Salem, Massachusetts, right on the Atlantic, and I still travel north to Portland to revisit my home and memories I treasure from my time living there.
I have a teen aged daughter, age 15 who lives in my home. She is also very much an athlete like the girl in the story. Sadly she lost her Mother several years ago to complications that arose from a Bi Polar Disorder.
I'm also lucky enough to be a proud dog owner as well. My furry friend is a shepherd husky mix, but I have lived with a room mate in the past who had a labrador retriever very much like the one in this story. Sadly Mindy, the lab has now passed over the Rainbow Bridge and is anxiously awaiting the day when she will be reunited with her pack she left behind here on Earth.
My daughters Grandparents live on the outskirts of Providence, Rhode Island as well. It was still another of the many wonderful bitter sweet connections I felt with this story line.
I read the book entirely in one sitting, being unable to put it down. I'm not sure exactly how to categorize this story.... A romance, a mystery, a medical drama, a memoir.... This wonderful story is all this and more.
I would recommend this story to anyone who likes having their heart strings pulled, or anyone who needs to understand how to deal with loss and the need to go on, to regain trust in life and love.
May this magical story touch your heart and soul as much as it did mine.
Couldn't Put It Down March 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Once I picked up this book, I couldn't put it down. It sucked me in from the begining and as I came to the end, I slowed my reading on purpose to keep from having it end. A real pleasure read. A lovely book especially for those who have been adopted by pets.
Loss, Love and Animal Healing... February 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Over the years, each of the dogs I've shared my life with has brought me through the grieving process of death and back to myself. This is a timeless story about dealing with the loss of love through death and the powerfully unique healing love of animals.
