"Bow Wow: The Somewhat Comprehensive Book of Dog Names" is a fun romp through a variety of ideas that include: Dawg Names, Human Names, Pure Breds, Victorian, Characters from Dickens, Leaders, History's Bravest, Sweets, Good Dogs, Mutts, Bad Dogs, Worldly Dogs, Out of This World, Colors, Double Dog, Feed Me, Pet Me, Flower Power, Rhymin Simon, Pairs, Action Figures and of course, Strange (but true).
Examples include: Timpango, Scottie, Trixie, Scout, Buddy, Cuddles, Cutie Pie, Moonglow and Fifi.
A fun introduction to pet names and you may find one you enjoy or you can give your dog a variety of names depending on mood or occasion. Right now I'm inclined to name the dog below us: "Barky Warky." I think maybe the owners should buy a second puppy so he is not so lonely while they are at work.

Clever names, clever artwork! June 4, 2006
What a great little book, filled with quirky dog names organized by categories like "Out of This World" (Sputnik, Ozone) and "Feed Me" (Ruta Begger, Pork Chop). It has a retro feel, with hand-drawn fonts and clever illustrations of dogs capering around the borders. This would make a great gift for dog lovers, suitable for reading aloud and sharing some of the funnier names.

I decided to buy the book because my girlfriend was about to get a new puppy and I thought that it would be helpful in coming up with names based on previous reviews. Although the book had a couple of decent names I felt like most of it was filled with obsurd and just silly names. If you are seriously searching for dog names you are much better off entering the search term "dog names" on google and saving your money.
