Basic first book for Scotties March 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great first book for anyone preparing to purchase a Scottish Terrier. This book is full of the basic questions in regards to temperment, characteristics, basic vet questions, basic commands. If you get this it will help, it is easy to read and very understandable and with lots of pictures. If you bring one of these little live wires into your home. Good Luck and Great Patience. They are stubborn and wonderfully loyal dogs. Linda C.

Guidebook to the Scottish Terrier July 22, 2002 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
I expect good pet books to guide me in the search for relevant information. This manual on Scottish Terriers does an excellent job of providing a thorough overview of what this interesting breed is like to live with and if it fits with a prospective owner's lifestyle. For the established Scottish Terrier owner, it offers a handy book on the shelf as a step-by-step guide to feeding, excercising, grooming, training and keeping your dog in good health. The author, and experienced veterinarian, and author of numerous companion animal books, provides accurate and practical medical advise for owners. I found the criteria for puppy selection (specific, practical clues to sorting out the "most likely to suceed") very useful and the "basic training" tips very constructive in molding a terrier personality into a obedient, fun-loving pet. The book format is well above average--complete, logically laid out, generously illustrated, and arranged to make for informative reading or a quick reference book. Phillip T. Robinson, DVM
Scottish Terriers August 4, 2001 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is a great little book about this breed of dog filled with general care to include diet; health; grooming and training as it pertains to the Scottish Terrier. It is filled with lots of nice pictures which help the person newly acquainted with the breed, especially since they are not a commonly seen breed. Very informative and useful book, and one of the few devoted entirely to the one breed. I liked it and would recommend it.
