Man and Dog August 16, 2007 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Ted Kerasote tells a great story that is as old as time. Having rescued my two dogs, it really hit home.
The animal psychology sections were great and increased my knowledge of dog behaviour.
It has made me rethink the raising of my next canine partner.
felt like I was there..... August 14, 2007 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Merle's Door kept me until the very end...I cried with the people in the story.Truly an excellent author.I also enjoy Jon Katz and his Bedlam Farm series...
Lyrical & Amazing! August 14, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
As an avid reader it seems harder and harder to find books that hold my attention. My rule is if the characters/storyline/plot don't grab me in the first 50 pages I am moving on. This book was AMAZING! I could see everything Ted Kerasote was describing. You don't need to be a dog owner to enjoy this book but it definitely makes it even better. As a labrador retriever owner I can see Merle in my own Maggie girl. Stubborn and naughty but so loving at the same time. It made me look at her in a whole new light. Wish we could all live on farms with our dogs running free!
Best Book EVER on a special kind of dog August 13, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
If you are a Lab Lover, this book is a must-read. If you are not a Lab Lover, this book is a must-read if you are a dog lover in general. The book gets better with each page until you find yourself loving this dog called Merle. I am not quite finished with the book, but I am already with tears in my eyes knowing that he will succumb. Why can't he live forever?!!!!
LOVED THIS BOOK!
