Product Description A book written for Junior Handlers by a junior handler. Also, for adults who want insider tips! Anne has been a highly successful Junior Handler competitor for eight years and has qualified six times to compete at Westminster. Her mother, Denise is the editor of the Lhasa Apso Reporter and an AKC judge of Junior Showmanship. Together they set out to write the classic book on Junior Showmanship. Their goal was to make thismore than a picture book with a few pointers. In that they have succeeded admirably. Thelessons are so self-explanatory that even a junior located far away from help and with no access to handling classes could pick up the book and learn to show at a fairly competitive level.

Helpful To The Novice... March 12, 2006 I found this book fairly uninformative for me, but I can see this book being extremely helpful to the novice junior handler. When I read this book, I had already been handling my Flat-coat and English Springer for quite some time and therefore knew a lot of the basics.
Overall Review: Great for the Novice Handler, not so helpful for any handler with a couple years of experience.
Buy this one! October 15, 2002 This is a great book, I recommed it to anyone who wants to learn how to compete in Jr. Show or just wants to learn to handle! This book is written by a past winner in Jr. Showsmanship, so you really get the scoop on the judges and what they want to see. This book is also great for someone who is already showing in Jr. Showsmanship (like me) and wants some great tips!- buy this one!
Best Junior Handler is the ''Best''!!! September 29, 1999 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I think this is a well written easy to understand helpful book. There are a lot of up and coming jr handlers out there and this book would help them and others just starting in the show ring.
A great book on the subject August 1, 1999 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
The book, Best Junior Handler, states in it's preface that it is basically a text book for the junior handler. The subject matter covers everything from choosing a breed to competing at Westminster as well as history on the event. There is a chapter with information for the more experienced handler. The manner in which Ms. Olejniczak handles the the subject is very relaxed and talks to you rather than at you. She tries to encourage juniors with anecdotes of her own experiences (especially negative ones) during her career, to not only provide comfort to those who have bad days when they or their dogs didn't do well, but also to encourage them to keep on trying when it seems the odds are against them. Junior Handling is just that, HANDLING the dog. This book stresses the importance of the relationship between a handler and his or her dog. However, it also provides information for the handler on how to succeed and comport themselves properly in this sport. No one enters to lose, they want to win. Ms. Olejniczak has provided helpful tips in this book for that purpose. Read it for yourself and find out.
BETTER BOOKS ARE OUT THERE!!! July 27, 1999 1 out of 9 found this review helpful
I found this book very uninformative. There was some good information for beginners but thats it. Most of the information is very outdated and should never be used. The stories were quite entertaining but seemed very self-absorbed. All and all it was quite a bad book the subject. If you really want a good one get "The Winning Edge".
