More Details Needed October 24, 2005 I recieved this book as a gift. As a person considering the purchase of their first dog I thought it would be a wonderful gift. The book is OK. A good overveiw of what to expect in training a puppy but not too much in the way of actual training excercises. I my opinion skip this one and spend the 10 bucks somewhere else. Unless you're just looking for a breif overveiw of what you're getting into.
I was hoping for more. August 2, 1997 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
The book has a lot of nice pictures of all different breeds. It tells a little about each breed shown, ex. a certain breed might take longer to train and so forth. I got the book by the title, Training the Perfect Puppy, I assumed the majority of the book would be on different training methods. The actual training part of the book, on average, consisted of a couple short paragraphs. Some of the commands consisted of two sentences of what the command means, like I needed to clarify what the Drop It command was suppose to mean.Maybe I had high expectations, or maybe I just wanted to be able to train my puppy, but I was not overly impressed with this purchase - oh well, $10 is not that bad.
