Book Description One of Australia's best kept secrets, the Australian Terrier ranks among the world's most loyal working terrier breeds. The country boasts five indigenous pure-bred dogs, and its pride in the Australian Terrier dates back to the nineteenth centure. As both a game earthdog and a devoted family dog, the breed thrives, able to balance its friendly, happy nature with its hard-bitten and rugged appearance. Few breeds of dog can compete with the Australian Terrier's soundness, even disposition and extroveted character. This book provides insightful chapters on the breed's history, characteristics and temperament, the breed standard as well as puppy selection, house-training, obedience and showing. This new colorful volume promises to be a welcome addition to the home library and a resource that can be relied upon for years to come.

Great book for the new Aussie Terrier owner!!! March 9, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book has been extremely informative about Austrailian Terriers. A new breed for me, it gives information through each chapter of how to be, how to train and what these darling little dogs need and want from a new owner. From coming home the first day to vet trips, training tips, house breaking tips. Just an excellent source of information.

I am very pleased with the response time in which ordering, shipping, and receiving was handled. I received the books I ordered in less than a week w/o any problems. I will use this form or purchase again.
Muriel Lee's AUSTRALIAN TERRIER August 22, 2005 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
The book is impressive and all Australian Terrier owners should have one. It covers most aspects of the Breed - puppy care, everyday care, health care, training, showing and History. It has lots of colour photos of Australian Terriers in most situations. It is well written, easy to read, and well set out. I especially liked the three consecutive pages which illustrated the Australian Terrier's physical structure, internal organs and skeletal structure, all illustrated on the same dog and very easy to understand. Grooming is hard to explain in a book - the breeder should give a guidance when selling the puppy. If the dog has a harsh coat (as it should) any shampoo, other than a conditioning one, will do, as I have found with my terriers. The book has an Index (many books don't!). It is a high quality book, I am really pleased to have a copy. Gillian Bartlett, Teraustralis Australian Terriers, South Australia
A Major Disappointment April 4, 2005 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This book has very little specific information about the Aussie and a lot of general dog information better presented in other books. For example, I was looking for grooming information on stripping and was told to ask a breeder. The issue of bathing a hard coated dog was given the answer, bathe the dog as you like.
