A great introduction to the breed December 1, 2003 WE are starting the search for a new dog and I have narrowed the number of breeds I am looking at to a handful. I bought this book as a way to learn more about cockers. This book containes many features I found very useful - full descriptions of the differences, both physical and tempermental, between American and English cockers, great behavior profile charts, sex and type differences, breed-specific health problems and even a section on how coat color effects personality. While cockers still seem to me to be wonderful dogs, this book helped me determine that they are not the breed for our family at this time. A very useful and well written introduction to the breed.
A great big help! For new owners or veteren owners alike! December 18, 2000 This book was very helpful as a guide to owning a Cocker. I recommend it highly and hope you learn as much as I did about this breed. Very gorgeous pictures and very informative and descriptive!
Superb quick reference October 11, 1998 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
For all its slim 80 pages, this is an excellent reference book. In particular it so graphically illustrates the differences between the American and English Cockers, that anyone in doubt of their own dogs lineage, would not go wrong consulting this book.Colour photography is used throughout and all salient points are accompanied by appropriate photography or diagrams. It might be a small book, but it seems to cover a great deal.
